Questioning
There are two types of questioning, one out of curiosity, and the other to guilt-trip another person, or to appear authoritative before the other person because only authorities ask questions. Thinking, “I deserve an answer”, is also a violation of the boundary, and thus the questioning person has a low sense of the boundary. There is distinct psychopathology attached to such people.
Psychopathological Effect of Questioning
Thinking is an expensive brain function. Questioning bypasses the Prefrontal cortex and uses Amygdala. This is a hallmark of metabolic dysregulation.
Metabolic dysregulation significantly increases the amount of insulin in the body, inhibiting glucose into brain parts, detaches the cerebellum, leading to increased Estrogen, which results in fat deposition in the belly area and liver.
This impairs the master circadian clock in the SCN of the brain, leading to Serotonin inhibition, which in turn results in poor sleep, increased hunger, increased anxiety, and raised BP, increased insulin resistance.
Increased cortisol due to the above would lead to cortisol resistance, leading to elevated sugar levels, and pain in the joints.
Can you imagine how much even one sentence that you write has a connection to your health?
Solution
Just take a pause before your impulses trigger you to ask questions. Think, if the answer to the question will really add any value to your life? In most cases, they won’t, prevent you from asking. This way you will not exhaust the other person, and break the psychopathology that is developing in you because of over-questioning.
