d) Focussing on organizations with better culture and not just better CTCs.
Why Indian Workforce will find it hard to acquire the skills for survival in layoff season
1. Workforce has to clear education loans, then Car EMI, and house EMI. The job today is about clearing the loan and cares neither about the role, nor the future, nor anything else.
2. When someone works at the beginning of the career with no emotional connection to the role, and focuses on money, after that brain is not altered.
3. Survival is a skill. It takes exposure to hunger for 7 years for the brain to learn the skill. With an entire generation brought up in their parent’s lap, they don’t have the skill.
4. Seasoned entrepreneurs, no more care to waste their energy on youth. Because their effort to mentor and prepare the next generation workforce has gone unnoticed, unrewarded, and unsupported.
5. Growing up with constant comparisons, the expectation burden, of not being taught core values but money, fame, house, car, the philosophy of values, and servitude is out of blood now.
In short,
a) No more handholding.
b) No knowledge of starving
c) No servitude
d) No emotions for the role
e) No skills are better than machine
f) Inflatted consumerization.
Conclusion
life isn’t about what one reads in management books and silly college syllabi. The role of the parents is to systematically expose children to various risks in life, so as to prepare the young minds to compete, think, socialize, hunt in groups, and survive.
98% of the Indian workforce sat on the back of the performing 2%, who did not get any time to take a breath in their lives. These 98% had the time, as they anyways didn’t work, to preach, feel-good, advice, talk about work-life balance, etc.
With easy things, laziness, expectations, “work for money”, keyword PhDs, lack of attention, fake glitters, selfishness, and dissatisfaction firmly put into the gene of the two generations, the changes can’t happen.
98% workforce is at risk and will be removed. Athens understood what Socrates, and then Plato tried to tell them, only after Alexender sacked the city. Nothing has changed in 2500 years.
