What is the objective of taking a self-screening mental health test online?
We know about cars and stars more than we know ourselves. From childhood, people mostly ask us, “what do you want to become,” or “what do you do?” but rarely anyone has ever wanted to know who we are. We know very little about ourselves, which is why when we struggle with life and relationships, we do not get the results we expect even after hard work; when people cheat us or betray us, we blame others or our destiny.
- We must always continue to know ourselves.
- The more we know about ourselves, the better we will be able to interact with the world.
- Without knowing our limitations in both qualitative as well as quantitative ways, we can not improve.
- If we do not improve and grow in life, we will always shrink and become ill.
- It is often uncomfortable to discuss our real thoughts, feelings, and insecurities, even with psychologists; we are often unaware of our actual thinking.
- Because our thoughts, feelings, and situations in life change all the time, if you take this test ten times, every time, you may get different results.
- Therefore a self-assessment and screening test is a great way to know yourself and know if there are any problems at the early stage so that you can use the Lyfas recommendation therapeutics to start improving.
- If you keep thinking about a problem and illness, you will always remain ill; however, if you start knowing yourself, you will start growing; once you grow in life, make Lyfas part of your growth journey.

What is Dead Mother Complex?
Dead mother complex is not a recognized diagnosis criterion per DSM-5 or ICD-10/11. DMC was invented by psychologist Andre Green in the 1980s while counseling his patient. This is a specific trauma type caused by the mother’s emotional absence in early childhood. Because in early childhood, our brain is not well developed and we are extensively dependent on our mothers, such an emotional distance confuses the child, and several executive functions get impaired.
Because childhood memories are never wiped off by our brain and are the foundation of our feelings and autobiographical memory, such a trauma remains with us throughout our life. This often results in Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(CPTSD) which results in trauma-bonding and abusive relationships all our lives.
What is Lyfas Dead Mother Complex Scale(LDMCS)?
To our knowledge, no valid psychometric tools to date help you assess the dead mother complex. A dead mother complex is the root cause of most abusive relationships. Therefore we constructed this scale from the consultancies of the Lyfas patients and based on HS Wright’s thesis 1Wright, Hillary Suzanne. Manifestations of the dead mother complex in chaplains. Pacifica Graduate Institute, 2012.
Details of the LDMCS
The actual questionnaire is a 49-item questionnaire. The subscales are:-
- Relationship trauma due to dead mother complex.
- Toxicity consumption due to dead mother complex.
- The defense mechanism of active imagination.
- Suppressed aggression and anger behavioral traits.
- Affinity to dead objects(subconscious trauma).
The instrument is a 5-point Likert-based instrument where the Likert is intensity-based(not at all too extreme). Item 30 is reversed scaled and is a custom question. Items 48 and 49 have a custom age range. Items 50-54 map the cardiometabolic and autonomic health with the mental health condition.
Relevance for the Clinicians
Even though the Dead Mother Complex is not a recognized mental health condition, Exhibit 1.3-4DSM–5 of recurrent traumas of psychogenesis is the dead mother complex. Understanding psychogenesis helps psychologists and counselors target the root cause of the trauma. For neurologists, the LDSCM scale may provide an important understanding of the activation of the amygdala-governed limbic brain system and may help to design treatment dosage based on the scale. For interventional cardiologists, LDSCM helps assess the risk of heart failure and progressive atherosclerosis.
Because worry is a universally accepted comorbidity of dead mother syndrome led to CPTSD, the LDSCM scale may help hepatologists to design the treatment protocol for individuals with fatty liver disease. Autonomic neuropathy, on the other hand, can offer important clues to Physiologists to help patients to improve their autonomic homeostasis.
Relevance of LDSCM for Test-Takers and Individuals
- Knowing thyself better for self-healing.
- Become aware of toxic relationships and take appropriate steps.
- Become aware of codependency and the possibility of being taken advantage of by others.
- Become aware of the possible continuous failure in the profession.
- Become aware of attracting more toxic people in life.
- Become aware of the current and future health risks.
After you are more self-aware and self-conscious, you can take proper decisions about improvement, either through a hybrid approach of your own clinical team in the correlation of Lyfas care, or you may choose to solve the problem as per your judgment.
